Borrowing from the language of cinema verité, this fiction film appears to be an experimental documentary told through the eyes (and lens) of Katie—an amateur filmmaker and American rich kid—making a film about Alicja, an erratic, unemployed Polish actress. In this raw, sexual, and visually brash film in post-Brexit-vote London, Katie’s colonizing, disruptive presence in Alicja’s life mirrors the treatment of migrants in the U.K.: welcomed, used, and then discarded.
